 The casting

when rebuilding the engine the crankshaft rear bearing filler block was completely broken and after

6 mounts of scouring the web and talking to people the general consensus was that I would have to

get one made. So after mention this to a club member he said that he had some casting equipment

and if we wanted could have a go at casting the piece.

the original piece with all the broken parts               The piece in the molding sand

             filled with isopon filler.

the sprues in place with the parting power                  the final mold with the original piece removed

The Sprue is the passage through which metal is

           poured into the mold

placing the vent holes                                               We found that old pistons from a volvo truck worked

                                                                                              better that the aluminum ingots.

Pistons beginning to melt. We also found it was      Starting to pour

better to melt the aluminum and pour straight

            away to avoid "stewing"

                                                                                              the finished mold

breaking out the casted piece.                                   the finished process. starting right to left
